Great mentors and teachers not only in martial arts but for life skills and character building are not only hard to find but very rare. This is school and the community within it that they have nurtured is quite simply one of a kind. We were very fortunate to have spent two years there and it was very sad and hard to leave once my job transferred me. Lisa Larsen [Rundle ES]: CD Young's Karate came to Rundle Elementary school and completed their Live Your Life program with our 5th graders.The program included a 45 minute learning session about ways to not be involved in different types of bullying and ways to use your voice instead of getting physical in different situations, a wristband, a brochure of information, and a challenge. When the challenge was met, the team came back and had a pizza party with our students to talk with them and learn about how they had been doing. The program was completely free and was helpful to our students.The team was easy to work with and schedule with. The team checked up on our students all throughout the year, and I could tell that they truly cared about them. We are already setting up dates to do the program again next year!I would recommend this program to all schools.

Shannon A. Lund: When I signed my sons up to Family Martial Art school I wasn't sure what to really expect. My one son Austin developed medical issues and eventually wasn't able to continue classes. Master E, Ms Bitakis and staff worked with me continued to ask about him. My son Justin was having issues in school, home and had a lot of anger issues and Master E took time out of his day to speak with him several times. Justin is doing so much better he hasn't been in trouble he is 100 % better at home.Through Classes he has developed confidence, he has something to look forward to. He has his eyes set on black belt. Justin has made friends. Family Martial Arts has opened up a whole new world for him. "Family Martial Arts is exactly what their name implies.....it's a family." Charles Combs: I would like to give a shout out to Family Martial Arts at 75 Horizon Ridge Parkway 100 in Henderson, NV. I began taking lessons last August after 38 years from my prior school shortly after earning my black belt. I have really enjoyed the experience and feel like a part of a big family, even if at 63 I am the oldest there. Master Bobby Erdman, Miss Bitakis, Miss Meale and everyone else are welcoming and have been very supportive of my family in our endeavor of self improvement in the Martial Arts. I highly recommend the school for anyone who might be interested.

Evan Hunt: If you want to teach your kids discipline, self respect, and confidence this is the place for you. From the first time you meet Mr. Rico he sets the standard for his studio that will follow you home. My kids look forward to their classes every week.
Anna Langson: My 9 year old daughter has been attending Rico's Martial Arts for about 4 months now and I cannot say enough good things about this organization. They emphasize respect for yourself and others, discipline, and physical activity. The teachers / coaches are amazing young men and women who set a wonderful example for the kids. My daughter looks up to each and every one of them. I have seen a transformation in my child since she has been a part of RMA. She is more respectful at home and the discipline they have taught her extends to all areas of her life. She attends both the summer camp and the regular classes and my husband and I are extremely happy with our experience.

Mr. Rico and his staff are so good with the kids and very patient. You would never know some of the coaches are teenagers who are a very good example for all of the kids, showing them how hard work and determination pay off.

Morse L: We started taking our son to classes at the rec center and he fell in love with it in the first session. Mr. Dahlhaus is such a great instructor. He demands respect but has fun. The kids really enjoy being in his class and my son is always excited and and can't wait for his next class.

I thought that was it but they started offering Zoom classes and watching my kids rekindled my spark for my karate days so I asked if I could join the adult Zoom class even though I wasn't a student before and they welcomed me. These are just some examples of their professionalism, flexibility and courtesy. Nerissa Ramos: My son has been taking lessons at the academy for a little over 5 years. I love that he enjoys training with his peers while learning life-long skills and lessons. His Sensei, Mr. Dahlhaus, is absolutely the gold standard in teaching. He is fun, but firm, and has a way with students at every age level. Every one of the teachers are such a positive influence on the kids. The dojo is the perfect balance of fun, discipline, and character building while learning life saving skills.
AmyJane McAuley: My son started out at the little ninjas class at the multigen and we made the transition to the dojo. We are SO happy with that decision! My son has really grown and matured and a big part of that has been because of the dojo. Even during the quarantine, he was given the opportunity to train with an older student via zoom. This made a world of difference in his demeanor during a time when he couldn’t participate physically at the dojo. This was what I was looking for and went beyond anything I knew could exist. Dan Hurd not only taught me how to kick ass, but I learned how to live with respect, honor, humility and great personal character.I learned how to respect my own mother through his teaching, the ability and skill of self awareness, social couth. Being a martial artist starts with learning how to articulate words so violence doesn't have to happen. But if it does, American Kenpo through Dan Hurd is the most devastating, over kill, rip a guys arms off and make him pee his pants type of training you'll ever experience.Self control, self discipline and respect for others with love are a few of many facets you'll acquire through the teaching of this school as a young child or grown man.HIGHLY recommend training with Mr. Dan Hurd. 5 star rating isn't high enough.The best news is you train at the level you want to which means you'll never get injured from improper training by the instructors.

Robert: The quality of a martial arts school isn't measured by its location , the number of "Bob" dummies it has, or the sheer quantity of black belts milled out per calendar year but by the knowledge, skill, and dedication of the instructors charged with educating the students. As both a life long student of the martial arts and a long time teacher myself, I can say without reservation that both owner Dan Hurd and primary instructor Jonathon Daulhaus are essentially as good as it gets. Instruction at the school is well structured, appropriately paced, aggressively challenging, and fundamentally useful in self defense situations. More importantly, students are encouraged and pushed to evolve but without any sense that a failure is anything worse than an experience from which to learn.More than anything, I appreciated the genuine family atmosphere that exists in the school. Students and instructors alike genuinely like each other, and more often than not, a victim of a well placed strike is more apt to high five and thank their fellow student for hitting them than complain. It seems counterintuitive to make combat seem almost friendly, yet that is the atmosphere here. Don't think for an moment that the students aren't serious or their ability diluted - they are very, very good. This school does not build "paper tigers."Don't take my word for it - read the other reviews here from families that have been involved with the academy for as many as 20 years. I've always judged the quality of things by the tenure of the people involved. In this case it is clear that something very good is going on here - why else would entire families be involved with Dan Hurd and his school for the better part of two decades?

Christopher Mills: As prior martial arts student I was looking for a studio that provided a certain type of instruction which would allow my kids not only to grow mentally and physically but spiritually. And after meeting the instructors the first class I was home with Core Fitness and Martial Arts. Mrs Drachen along with her son Mr. Dario Drachen, Mr. Pyne, Mr. Johnson and Ms. Peaking are all unique and supportive in there instruction. The head instructors are honest and display a level of integrity unmatched by any others instructors in there field. My daughter has flourished and became and outstanding martial artist winning 4 state titles and 4 world titles inspiring myself back into training and I've enrolled my two other kids into the program. Now as for the school, the other patents are very supportive and understanding of community. They embrace and cheer each other and when you visit this school you'll see why they are aptly named the Wolfpack. I can go on and on about how great this school is, but the only way to is to see it, if you can you should visit the school and see how every student helps each other. 😊

Math Dad (Serge Ballif): Outstanding experience for the whole family. I get a great workout every class. My kids have grown and developed a lot as they have progressed through the ranks. You'll need more than a casual commitment, but it's worth it.Updating five years later-- I've moved away, but this studio is one thing I miss most about living in Henderson. I can't say enough good things about the instructors and the community we enjoyed as family through participating in the programs here.
J.P.: They have successfully cultivated a supportive and safe environment for all levels. Instructors are knowledgable, well trained, and overall, very positive. Like any martial art, you get what you put in. Over time, you’ll see an improvement in confidence, flexibility and balance.

Its life skills, people skills, and social skills and The instructors here touch on those skills and respect every lesson. Instructors Vanessa, Ashley, and Alan are fair but firm. They always point out when they are doing better and when they need to improve. I have a lot of respect for who they are and what they do.

Marianela Flores: My kids have been practicing taekwondo for a few years now, but they started in CA, and Master Oh received them here in NV in the best way, giving them confidence and strength to continue learning. His teaching method includes a lot of discipline and effort, but also patience and respect, which increases the self-esteem of the children. I’m glad we found Master Oh to continue this journey in the taekwondo world.
MJ Seo: My two kids have been doing taekwondo here for 3 years. It’s the perfect place to learn not only authentic Korean Taekwondo but also mental discipline. Master Oh loves his students and leads his classes with kindness, generosity and strict rules. I highly recommend his classes.

Thus I have been part of many federations and tutelage of many instructors/masters. Compared to the varies masters I have had the privilege to be taught by, Master Jung Han Oh has been the ideal best. He is very patient and altruistic to his students, especially to children. His classes are fun and ,most importantly, intriguing. For anyone that is interested in martial arts, I absolutely requirement Master Oh. You will not be disappointed.

Y. Houy: A welcoming dojos for all ages and ability levels. Sensei Arlene and the black belts she has trained are very knowledgeable and are excellent instructors. Training is always done with safety in mind. I'm not afraid of getting injured and can enjoy the beautiful movements of Aikido.
