Las Vegas Capoeira Academy: what do users think?

Switch: This has been an awesome experience! Everyone has been helpful and fun to train with. I always look forward to coming through!

Huesos Grises: Love this place, professor Viajante is a great teacher, he’s patient, and makes sure to help all his students with individuality

Camilo Santana: super positive group... beginners welcomed... all ages. authentic and earnest Capoeira ... culture, movement, music for your body and mind. it's a nice space as well. soft mats but firm enough to where it doesn't bother your wrists when doing handstands.I was visiting as I was passing through. this was the highlight of my trip. I look forward to returning.

Kenny Parry: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueHas been a great experience! It has been so much more than Capoeira for our family. My son has grown a lot with the guidance of Professor Viajante and has developed his confidence, communication skills, and discipline. It's great for ALL ages too. I might have to get in there one day too haha

Richard Pokropski [Centennial HS]: Through the military, I've moved around quite a bit, and I've practiced Capoeira in Rhode Island, Washington DC, and Miami. I consider the Las Vegas Capoeira Academy to be the best of them. The lessons are exceptionally well designed, the environment is fun and friendly, and the instructor is outstanding. I live on the other side of town, but I happily make the trek class. If you want to have fun while you workout and learn a culturally rich martial art, then the Las Vegas Capoeira Academy might be the right place for you.

Belinda Foreman: I love capoeira and learning from Adam, he has so much energy, knowledge and experience and is able to teach any level. Great group energy that works together to see everyone progress in their skills!

Julia Katcher: Positive vibes all around this. Adam has a huge knowledge of Capoeira and all its attributes. Constantly lifting people up and inspiring better living. Go check it out.

L. Narvaez: Amazing energy, great teacher / mentor.Adam will not stop until your kids are motivated and performing the rights technical aspects of capoeira.

Anthony Quebrado: Great instructorGreat classes recommended!Quebrado

Stephanie Irrcher: Great motivator. Super high energy! Love it.

Donna P: Adam is one amazing individual! He is so talented and has the ability to work with a variety of people on different levels.

Aaron Rasmus: Viajante is an expert instructor. He has a knack for making the impossible seem possible by breaking things down into manageable bits.

Kyle Ferguson: The Las Vegas Capoeira Academy has given me the opportunity to learn about Capoeira Conditioning, while improving my balance, strength, discipline, self-defense, and flexibility. The Las Vegas Capoeira Academy also has a wonderful community of people.I highly recommend the Las Vegas Capoeira Academy.

Appio Hunter: His passion, dedication, and enthusiasm translates into an amazing experience for everyone who interacts with him. HIGHLY recommended!!

J. Burton (Professora Amazonas): Awesome group of eclectic people that are very supportive of each other's growth. I can't wait to visit again!

Kristina Elmido: Took my niece to one of the kids classes. She loved it! Adam aka Viajante is such a great teacher. The kids love his energy. Watching the kids learn music, learn Portuguese, and the martial art is amazing!

FireEagle Fitness &Martial Arts: I love learning capoeira. I always wanted to learn but there's virtually none available in my home state of wisconsin. Here in vegas, I got the chance to try it and I love it. Having a previous background in martial arts, made some things easier, but capoeira isn't easy. It's a tough workout. But you learn songs, language, martial arts ability, athleticism, body strength, balance, etc. I'm hoping to add some of what I've been learning into my overall martial arts repertoire.

Pam Morin: Adam walks the talk....lives it, believes it, does it! His energy is through the rough amazing!

Core Fitness & Martial Arts: what do users think?

Christopher Mills: As prior martial arts student I was looking for a studio that provided a certain type of instruction which would allow my kids not only to grow mentally and physically but spiritually. And after meeting the instructors the first class I was home with Core Fitness and Martial Arts. Mrs Drachen along with her son Mr. Dario Drachen, Mr. Pyne, Mr. Johnson and Ms. Peaking are all unique and supportive in there instruction. The head instructors are honest and display a level of integrity unmatched by any others instructors in there field. My daughter has flourished and became and outstanding martial artist winning 4 state titles and 4 world titles inspiring myself back into training and I've enrolled my two other kids into the program. Now as for the school, the other patents are very supportive and understanding of community. They embrace and cheer each other and when you visit this school you'll see why they are aptly named the Wolfpack. I can go on and on about how great this school is, but the only way to is to see it, if you can you should visit the school and see how every student helps each other. 😊

Amir Zaffa: Simply an amazing place. The instructors truly care about all aspects of the children's experience and growth at this school. All the children love them and being there as well.

Math Dad (Serge Ballif): Outstanding experience for the whole family. I get a great workout every class. My kids have grown and developed a lot as they have progressed through the ranks. You'll need more than a casual commitment, but it's worth it.Updating five years later-- I've moved away, but this studio is one thing I miss most about living in Henderson. I can't say enough good things about the instructors and the community we enjoyed as family through participating in the programs here.

J.P.: They have successfully cultivated a supportive and safe environment for all levels. Instructors are knowledgable, well trained, and overall, very positive. Like any martial art, you get what you put in. Over time, you’ll see an improvement in confidence, flexibility and balance.

Gaby Mich: This place is amazing 🤩 I fully recommend

Yen Sant: Amazing place! FAMILY ORIENTED

caleb fresinski: I love this studio, everybody is so nice. I've only gone for 8 months and It's amazing!

Steph: So glad I signed my daughter up for this, 2 weeks in and I'm already seeing progress with my daughters behavior. Shes starting to use her voice the right way lol. We love it and the people are amazing!

Nicole Jun: Positive:ProfessionalismLove the work they are doing with kids and adults; building discipline, respect, and self confidence!

Sarah Johnson: The most amazing studio I've ever been to! The Instructors are all incredibly patient yet determined to bring the best out of all their students. Best thing my family ever did was sign up for classes here. Even as an adult I was able to join and do things I never thought I could. Truly an awesome experience all around.

R Flowers: My granddaughter has been attending Core FMA for over a year now. Not only is she learning self defense, she is learning discipline, self confidence, respect for others, good sportsmanship, age appropriate strength training and teamwork. Every instructor is amazing in their own individual way. As a team they work together seamlessly to provide an outstanding level of instruction in both martial arts and life skills. She has also made wonderful friends.

Dan Hurds Academy of Martial Arts: what do users think?

Morse L: We started taking our son to classes at the rec center and he fell in love with it in the first session. Mr. Dahlhaus is such a great instructor. He demands respect but has fun. The kids really enjoy being in his class and my son is always excited and and can't wait for his next class.

Reynaldo White: Fantastic! Kids learn a lot. They get a great workout. Instructors are great with the kids!

Tomer Perry: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy 8 year old daughter takes class and it helps her focus her energy and concentration. Great sport/physical activity for her as well. And there are no better instructors than Mr. Dahlhaus and Master Hurd!

Charlene Hafey: We are so appreciative for Dan Hurds Academy of Martial Arts. Not only were they able to adapt during these unknown and difficult times, but they were able to do it with such positivity that gave everyone hope that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. They have always encouraged my son to do his best, to work hard and have shown him that there is so much more to being a black belt.

Jacky Swallia: My kids did the Little Ninja program last summer and loved it so we wanted to do it again this summer but then, you know...'rona. I thought that was it but they started offering Zoom classes and watching my kids rekindled my spark for my karate days so I asked if I could join the adult Zoom class even though I wasn't a student before and they welcomed me. These are just some examples of their professionalism, flexibility and courtesy. When the school opened back up I knew I wanted support them and become part of the community so the three of us joined and we have loved our first weeks of class. My kids adore Mr. Daulhaus. We are practicing together at home. And though once school starts that will probably be it for my little ninjas until next summer, I hope to continue long tern and training with passion!

Nerissa Ramos: My son has been taking lessons at the academy for a little over 5 years. I love that he enjoys training with his peers while learning life-long skills and lessons. His Sensei, Mr. Dahlhaus, is absolutely the gold standard in teaching. He is fun, but firm, and has a way with students at every age level. Every one of the teachers are such a positive influence on the kids. The dojo is the perfect balance of fun, discipline, and character building while learning life saving skills.

AmyJane McAuley: My son started out at the little ninjas class at the multigen and we made the transition to the dojo. We are SO happy with that decision! My son has really grown and matured and a big part of that has been because of the dojo. Even during the quarantine, he was given the opportunity to train with an older student via zoom. This made a world of difference in his demeanor during a time when he couldn’t participate physically at the dojo. There is a real community at Dan Hurds Academy of martial arts and I highly recommend you try a class or two to see for yourself!

Worldwide Fun Kids: are doing a great service for our community.

Angela V: We have been going here for about 4 months now and it has done a lot for my daughter's self-esteem. The instructors are very patient and make sure the kids are having a good time, even when the kids might get frustrated learning a new concept. I highly recommend anyone to bring their kids here to learn and grow.

Gary McIllwain: Dan Hurds Kenpo has helped me turn my life around. Great teachers! This is the best school, please give them a try, you'll have no regrets!

Michael Cavanaugh: I’ve learned so many valuable skills at Mr. Hurd’s school. I highly recommend!

GM Talon: The best. Period. For adults for kids. Rooted in the science of the body and movement, not unnecessary mysticism and tradition. Proven with plenty of real world application by those in professions that require it.

Joseph Clark: now attends the school and we always enjoy whatever the day throws at us. I would recommend this school to anyone who values self defense and family.

John Woodard: I joined Dan Hurd's Academy of Martial Arts in the fall of 1998. I was impressed by the family atmosphere, as well as the discount given when a family joined together. Initially I joined to spend more time with my 8 year old son, but ended up staying for 10+ years. The practical application of the self defense techniques is outstanding. I found the attention to detail unparalleled when compared to other martial arts schools. Over the years, I consistently moved up the belt ranks until I became a certified instructor. My fear of speaking to large groups evaporated and I became a more confident person, using the gained self assurance to move up the ladder in my professional career.I find it difficult to put into words the family type atmosphere of this self defense school. To me, it is so much more than a school. The acceptance into this martial arts family is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I literally felt like a kindred spirit and made life long friendships through this facility.I would highly recommend Dan Hurd's Academy of Martial Arts to anyone!

the Morefield: I have trained on and off with some of the best in 5 different martial arts. I trained with Dan Hurd for the 1st time at 13 and I was hooked. This was what I was looking for and went beyond anything I knew could exist. Dan Hurd not only taught me how to kick ass, but I learned how to live with respect, honor, humility and great personal character.I learned how to respect my own mother through his teaching, the ability and skill of self awareness, social couth. Being a martial artist starts with learning how to articulate words so violence doesn't have to happen. But if it does, American Kenpo through Dan Hurd is the most devastating, over kill, rip a guys arms off and make him pee his pants type of training you'll ever experience.Self control, self discipline and respect for others with love are a few of many facets you'll acquire through the teaching of this school as a young child or grown man.HIGHLY recommend training with Mr. Dan Hurd. 5 star rating isn't high enough. The best news is you train at the level you want to which means you'll never get injured from improper training by the instructors.

Amy Cooley: Our family is so happy that we found Dan Hurd's Academy of Martial Arts. My son has been taking classes for over 6 years and as we watched him progress, the rest of the family started taking classes too. Mr Hurd and Mr Dahlhaus both genuinely love their art and teaching it to others. Each class is engaging for the students and helps build confidence and discipline. If you have ever been interested in learning martial arts, this is the place to go!

Robert: The quality of a martial arts school isn't measured by its location , the number of "Bob" dummies it has, or the sheer quantity of black belts milled out per calendar year but by the knowledge, skill, and dedication of the instructors charged with educating the students. As both a life long student of the martial arts and a long time teacher myself, I can say without reservation that both owner Dan Hurd and primary instructor Jonathon Daulhaus are essentially as good as it gets. Instruction at the school is well structured, appropriately paced, aggressively challenging, and fundamentally useful in self defense situations. More importantly, students are encouraged and pushed to evolve but without any sense that a failure is anything worse than an experience from which to learn.More than anything, I appreciated the genuine family atmosphere that exists in the school. Students and instructors alike genuinely like each other, and more often than not, a victim of a well placed strike is more apt to high five and thank their fellow student for hitting them than complain. It seems counterintuitive to make combat seem almost friendly, yet that is the atmosphere here. Don't think for an moment that the students aren't serious or their ability diluted - they are very, very good. This school does not build "paper tigers."Don't take my word for it - read the other reviews here from families that have been involved with the academy for as many as 20 years. I've always judged the quality of things by the tenure of the people involved. In this case it is clear that something very good is going on here - why else would entire families be involved with Dan Hurd and his school for the better part of two decades?

Dave Bell: and that is for a reason!
